Manchmal entstehen Projekte, bei denen verschiedene Welten aufeinandertreffen und genau das macht sie so spannend. Für die diesjährige Frauen-Basketball-Weltmeisterschaft in Berlin haben wir als CREAKT – Akte One und Cren – ein großformatiges Artwork für FIBA und TISSOT gestaltet, das aktuell im Berliner Ostbahnhof zu sehen ist.
Das Werk ist Teil einer Installation, die mit einem Countdown auf den Start der Weltmeisterschaft aufmerksam macht. Mitten im täglichen Trubel des Bahnhofs begleitet das Artwork Reisende, Besucher und Basketballfans auf ihrem Weg durch die Halle und macht gleichzeitig auf eines der größten Sportereignisse des Jahres aufmerksam.
Mit einer Größe von 310 x 150 cm verbindet das Bild verschiedene Elemente, die eng mit Berlin und der Weltmeisterschaft verknüpft sind. Ausgangspunkt der Gestaltung ist eine stilisierte Karte Berlins in warmen Orangetönen. Zwischen den Strukturen der Stadt finden sich das FIBA-Logo, verschiedene Statements zur Women’s Basketball World Cup sowie bekannte Wahrzeichen wie das Brandenburger Tor, der Fernsehturm und das Berliner Wappen.
Wie bei vielen gemeinsamen Arbeiten von CREAKT steht auch hier die Verbindung von urbanen Strukturen, grafischen Elementen und illustrativen Details im Mittelpunkt. Unser Ziel war es, ein Bild zu schaffen, das aus der Entfernung als starke Gesamtkomposition funktioniert, gleichzeitig aber auch bei näherem Hinsehen immer neue Details entdecken lässt.
Besonders reizvoll war die Aufgabe, die Dynamik und Energie des Basketballs mit der Identität Berlins zu verbinden. Die Stadt selbst wird dabei Teil der Geschichte: Straßen, Orte, Symbole und Architektur verschmelzen mit den Themen Sport, Bewegung und internationaler Begegnung.
Wir freuen uns, Teil dieses Projekts zu sein und gemeinsam mit FIBA und TISSOT einen Beitrag zur Sichtbarkeit der Frauen-Basketball-Weltmeisterschaft in Berlin leisten zu können. Gerade im öffentlichen Raum entstehen oft Begegnungen mit Kunst, die ungeplant passieren – und genau das macht solche Projekte für uns besonders interessant.

Sometimes projects emerge where different worlds collide, and that is precisely what makes them so exciting. For this year’s Women’s Basketball World Cup in Berlin, we at CREAKT – Akte One and Cren – have designed a large-scale artwork for FIBA and TISSOT, which is currently on display at Berlin’s Ostbahnhof.
The piece is part of an installation that draws attention to the start of the World Cup with a countdown. Amidst the daily hustle and bustle of the station, the artwork accompanies travellers, visitors and basketball fans as they make their way through the concourse, whilst also drawing attention to one of the biggest sporting events of the year.
Measuring 310 x 150 cm, the image combines various elements closely linked to Berlin and the World Cup. The design takes as its starting point a stylised map of Berlin in warm orange tones. Set amongst the city’s structures are the FIBA logo, various statements about the Women’s Basketball World Cup, and well-known landmarks such as the Brandenburg Gate, the TV Tower and the Berlin coat of arms.
As with many of CREAKT’s collaborative works, the focus here is on the interplay between urban structures, graphic elements and illustrative details. Our aim was to create an image that works as a strong overall composition from a distance, whilst also revealing ever-new details upon closer inspection.
The task of combining the dynamism and energy of basketball with Berlin’s identity was particularly appealing. The city itself becomes part of the story: streets, places, symbols and architecture blend with the themes of sport, movement and international encounters.
We are delighted to be part of this project and, together with FIBA and TISSOT, to be able to contribute to raising the profile of the Women’s Basketball World Cup in Berlin. It is often in public spaces that unplanned encounters with art occur – and that is precisely what makes such projects particularly interesting for us.
The artwork will be on display at Berlin’s Ostbahnhof until the start of the World Cup.
