THE URBAN ART PROJECT IN BERLIN 2017
THE ULTIMATE URBAN ART EVENT
Berlin, a run down office building in the former west, meant to be demolished, and then art took over the place: TheHaus – one of the biggest urban art exhibitions. 10.000 m², 165 artists, 5 floors, jam-packed with art.
At the 3rd Floor the corridor was made by AKTE ONE and one room by CREN and AKTE.

THE ROOM 302
MADE BY CREN & AKTE ONE
For the enormous group street art project The Haus, which ran from March to June 2017 in a condemned bank building near Berlin's Kurfürstendamm, AKTE ONE & CREN created an impressive installation, in which there first together made motif “yin and yang” reappeared. In a 150-square-foot former office room, two large, round, wooden yin-yangs in yellow/blue, stood across from one another. The tondi hung at eye level on the walls, which had been painted completely in black, grey and white. Coarse traces of spray paint on the walls symbolized the chaos of the present day and stood as a contrast to the harmony embodied in the yin-yang images.
The floor was painted white, symbolizing innocence, but was gradually dirtied by the visitors’ footprints and thus lost some of its purity. In the middle of the space, a circle was painted on the floor. It was as big as yin-yang paintings and had a noble, marbled texture. In its center, a white, classical pedestal presented 3-D glasses. The marble circle here acts as an inhibition threshold to compel the visitors to take the glasses and be able to see the yin-yang paintings in 3-D.
For AKTE and CREN this installation is an experiment with the perception and meaning of space, with or without 3-D glasses. The work is a sort of performative art or action, in which the viewer/visitor is transformed into an actor as he uses the 3-D glasses and dirties the floor with his steps. With allusion to the chaotic conditions of our world and the destructive presence of humans — along with the yin-yang symbol’s glimmer of hope — in this work the duo has taken giant artistic steps in terms of both content and form, steps that presage further exciting projects in the future.

THE 3rd FLOOR
INTO THE DEEP
For the corridor, AKTE ONE opted for an atmospheric concept with a monochrome structure of throw-ups. A mixture of design and street graffiti. To create the desired atmosphere, the corridor runs from light to dark. The outline of the throw-up structure is drawn freestyle and covers the entire corridor, including the ceiling, except for the black floor. In terms of color, the outline seems to morph from darker to lighter, although it is exactly the same shade of gray. .
The atmosphere created with this extended depth was difficult to capture in photos, but was definitely the right environment live to guide visitors to the respective rooms of the other artists on this floor.
